Money for Franklin County’s new jail and more approved in 2016 budget
Franklin County commissioners Tuesday night signed off on a $420 million general funds budget for 2016.
Highlights from those dollars include $44 million towards the construction of a new $135 million jail to be built on the city’s West Side (2551 Fisher Rd). The facility will pull triple duty as a jail, morgue, forensic lab.
Zach Scott will also see a budget increase of more than 4% at the sheriff’s office…less than he wanted, but enough to cover operational needs and the hiring of some additional staff.
