Ohio Senate votes to cut Planned Parenthood funding
The Ohio Senate on Wednesday voted 23 – 10 to cut government funding to Planned Parenthood and to organizations and facilities that refer patients to them.
The bill was introduced last month in the wake of videos released by an anti-abortion group called the Center for Medical Progress. According to the group, the videos are proof that Planned Parenthood profits from the sale of aborted fetal tissue. Proponents of Planned Parenthood question the contents of the videos saying that they are misleading.
The measure was approved on strict party lines with all Republicans in favor of pulling the funding and all Democrats voting to keep it in place.
Planned Parenthood says that cutting their funding would jeopardize women’s health.
This legislation protects women and children, redirecting funds to clinics that do not perform abortions.

Supporters of the group clearly disagree with the Senate’s action.
They don’t care that 65% of Ohioans are against defunding Planned Parenthood.
