Opinion: Why aren’t progressives looking at Sherrod Brown for presidential run?
The 2016 election is still a year away, but that doesn’t stop politicos from wondering who might run. And while the usual names are being tossed around (Hillary Clinton, Jeb Busch, John Kasich), Ben Terris of The Washington Post wants to add one more: Sherrod Brown.
In his piece, “Sherrod Brown: Why aren’t progressives begging him to run for president?”, he wonders why no one has ever put forth the Ohio senator as a possible contender for POTUS. Terris speculates that other senators, like Elizabeth Warren, will likely get name-dropped because of how much (national) media attention they generate. Well, and that Brown himself has said he has “zero interest” in running for president.
Still, Terris thinks Brown is an ideal choice because, “He’s an affable guy, appealing but not too slick, with smiling eyes and a good head of hair and a media-friendly feminist wife.” (deb)
