New survey: 1 in 4 female undergrads at Ohio State reports sexual assault

reportnowResults of a survey just released by the Association of American Universities show 23% of female undergraduate students saying that they have been the victim of some form of sexual assault. This includes any unwanted sexual contact committed through physical force or the threat of physical force…or a situation where the woman was unable to resist (intoxication, for example).

27 colleges and universities (including Ohio State) took part in the study. Breaking the numbers down, at OSU, 24% of female undergrads say that they have been assaulted. Just over 5% of undergrad males at Ohio State say that they have been victims.

For transgender students among all 27 institutions, 25% of undergrads say that they have been victims. 15.5% of transgender graduate students report that they have been victimized.   (jj)
