Central Ohio faithful travel to see the pope
Among many Central Ohioans traveling to the see the pope this week is a group of nearly 80 from St. Paul the Apostle’s Church in Westerville. The group left on its pilgrimage to Philadelphia this morning.
Pope Francis arrived in the U.S. on Tuesday for his first-ever visit to America. Tuesday night and Wednesday, the Pope attended various events and religious services in Washington. Thursday’s schedule includes an address to a joint session of Congress, after which the pontiff will travel to New York City. He’ll lead an evening prayer at St. Patrick’s Cathedral tonight. On Friday, the pope will offer prayer at the site of the World Trade Center and later hold mass at Madison Square Garden.
Saturday’s schedule has the pope in Philadelphia and that’s where the Westerville group plans to see him. The pope will remain in Philadelphia attending various events until he departs for the Vatican on Sunday. (jj)
