Coleman appoints panel to consider guidelines for police body cameras

Columbus is continuing to move forward on a plan to implement the use of police body cameras.
Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman today announced nine individuals selected to sit on a special panel designed to set protocols and guidelines for the use of those cameras.

- Margot Kaminski / Ohio State University Law School
- Karla Rothan / Stonewall Columbus
- Abdikhayr Soofe / Community Relations Commission
- Robert Stewart / Department of Public Safety
- Robert Strasbaugh / Division of Police
- Dr. C. Dexter Wise III / Faith Ministries Church
Coleman estimates that the work of the committee will take 4 to 6 months to complete.
City Council President / mayoral candidate Andrew Ginther recently said that the city will have officers using the cameras by the end of 2016. (jj)
