The bodies of two Columbus women were recovered on Saturday after a passerby spotted their rented SUV in the Fryingpan River just outside of Aspen, Colorado.
Yvonne Honebrink (71) and Kristina Herron (64) had just begun a 10-day Western vacation.
A spokesperson for the Colorado State Patrol says that there was relatively little damage to vehicle. Still, something clearly caused the SUV to leave the roadway and careen 70-feet down into the river below. Autopsies will be performed today.
The two friends met each other when Honebrink (a real estate agent) sold Herron a home five years ago. (jj)
