With the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio having held Columbia Gas responsible…to the tune of a $400,000 fine…for their role in an Upper Arlington home explosion earlier this year, PUCO is now giving the company a chance to save half of that amount.
PUCO says that they’ll cut that fine to $200,000 provided that Columbia meets certain requirements.
- Putting GPS coordinates in place along Columbia Gas’s 19,000 miles of line by 2023
- Step up consumer safety campaigns by the end of 2016
- Meet with water utility companies in efforts to prevent gas valves from being marked as water valves
