Gamergate calls on Columbus
Gamergate continues to dominate the news, and now it’s made its way into the Columbus’ legal system. Video game developer Brianna Wu posted a piece where she called out Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien for not taking action against a deeply disturbing threat she received from (614) callers.
After the article went up, O’Brien’s office received dozens of calls and emails demanding that he take action. However, O’Brien quickly pointed out that no criminal complaint had been filed. After looking into the matter, Wu realized her team* had filed the complaint with the wrong office. They refiled and it’s now in the right hands.
Wu also said her intention was never to have people harass Ohio/Columbus authorities. And after talking with the city attorney’s office, she feels like the case is finally moving forward. (deb)
Just got off the call with prosecutors in Columbus, Ohio. I feel very confident that my case will be looked into. Thanks for all your help!

*Wu said that she had to hire people to help her go through the death and rape threats she receives because one: there are SO many and two: she needs other people to process them just for the sake of her own mental health.
