Mad River Mountain vows to open in wake of fire

A favorite destination for skiers throughout the area, Mad River Mountain in Logan County suffered a devastating fire Wednesday night. A blaze ripped through the resort’s main lodge leaving the building in ruins.

Firefighters from 4 counties (15 departments in all) responded to the blaze, finally gaining control about two hours after the first was first reported. There were no injuries. Investigators will begin their search for the cause of the fire today.

The ski resort issued this statement through social media.

Talking to the Columbus Dispatch, a spokesperson for the ski resort vows that they will find a way to open for business this season as scheduled.

Olympian Louie Vito is from Columbus and has long-considered Mad River Mountain to be a home base of sorts. Many of his mementos were lost in the fire. The snowboarder offered this on Twitter:
