More roar – another litter of lions born at the Columbus Zoo

Just days after her sister Asali surprised Columbus Zoo staffers by giving birth to a litter of four lion cubs, the zoo has announced that Kazi the lion has welcomed three of her own. The zoo says that two of the cubs were healthy and began nursing right away. Sadly the third baby was weak and has passed away.

Kazi is currently in the indoor den bonding with her new offspring. Asali is in the habitat doing the same with her new children. The habitat will remain closed to visitors (likely for several weeks) as moms and cubs connect.  (jj)
