Ohio State: threat passes, investigation continues

If you live in the Ohio State University, I warn you. Tomorrow [10/27] at 15 hours, I will kill students and teachers with guns . I have guns and explosives in my room, which I will use.

shutterstock_172084607That was the violent message posted by an anonymous user in an online gaming forum Monday night. Authorities responded by issuing an alert to students and staff, and by stepping up security presence around all Ohio State campuses. But the 3pm time referenced in the message came and went without incident. No arrests were made and no suspects were identified.

Now in the wake of the threat, the Ohio State University Department of Public Safety says that they are continuing to investigate the message and will continue to be ready if anything should happen.

The immediate window of concern has passed, though we will continue to aggressively investigate with the assistance of federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.Appropriate precautionary measures will continue to be taken, including a visible public safety presence on campus. The safety of our students, faculty, staff and visitors is our top priority. All members of the university community are reminded to remain vigilant and aware — and to report any suspicious activity to police by calling 614-292-2121, or by dialing 9-1-1 in emergencies.
