Planned Parenthood wins temporary blocking of DeWine
After Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced that he would seek an injunction against Planned Parenthood to force the group’s clinics to comply with a law requiring proper disposal of fetal remains, PP beat him to court. On Monday, a federal judge granted the group’s request for a restraining order preventing DeWine from taking action against them. Planned Parenthood denies the Attorney General’s accusations.
A number of Ohio lawmakers are pursuing new laws requiring that fetal remains be properly buried or cremated. DeWine says that his recent investigation found that aborted fetuses from Planned Parenthood were ending up in Kentucky landfills.

We told you on Friday that Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine’s office has completed its investigation into whether or not Planned Parenthood clinics in the state were involved in the sale of fetal body parts for profit. DeWine (R) says that there was no evidence uncovered that would support that notion. He did say, however, that Planned Parenthood clinics in Ohio were contracting with companies that would then discard aborted fetuses in landfills.
In response to the findings, DeWine’s office plans to seek an injunction against Planned Parenthood. Two of the state’s three PP clinics have now filed federal suit to prevent the Attorney General from blocking their right to perform abortion services. The Attorney General’s office says that they aren’t trying to block Planned Parenthood from performing abortions…but just to prevent the improper disposal of fetal remains.
