Tearing down historic buildings on High Street? That’s progress.

Screen Shot 2015-12-14 at 11.29.22 AMFrom UWeekly:

A proposal has been submitted to the University Area Review Board with the goal of redeveloping High St. between W. Northwood Ave. and W. Oakland Ave.

The area currently has 12 different buildings including student housing, Japanese Oriental Restaurant, and Cazuela’s Grill. Mostly all the buildings that would be torn down are over 100 years old.

Two buildings are set to be preserved: 2259 and 2265 High St. Neither of which are Cazuela’s Grill *tears*.

The redevelopment, known as The View on Pavey Square, would include a 250,000 square foot building with student housing, a parking garage, and two available spaces for restaurants (Cazuela’s?).

The developers are Solove Real Estate and Celmark Development Group who also built The View on High and The View on Fifth.

The proposal will be reviewed at the University Area Review Board’s meeting on Dec. 17.
