Update: Mother charged after 3-year-old son shoots self
A Columbus woman whose 3-year-old son shot himself on Thursday has been charged with child endangering. Police say that pregnant mother (Damira Crowder) and her young boy were the only people in the home and that the child found the loaded weapon in a room upstairs. From Columbus Police:
Ms. Crowder stated that she keeps a handgun in the upstairs bedroom and the juvenile retrieved the handgun while she was sleeping and shot himself.
The boy is recovering from surgery at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and is listed in stable condition.

Columbus Police are on the scene of a shooting on the city’s East Side. Authorities say a 3-year-old boy has been taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital after being shot in the stomach. Police are suggesting that the wound may be self-inflicted.
