This weekend: 2015 Santa Speedo Dash!
Watch out for a large group of Kris Kringle wannabes showing a lot of skin in the Arena District this weekend. It’s time for the 2015 Santa Speedo Dash!
The 4th annual event is again presented by YPAD (YPsAgainstDiabetes) and benefits the Central Ohio Diabetes Association. This 1K / 5K is a great event for those that take their running seriously or for those just looking to have a good time.
This year’s event steps off at noon on Saturday at Bar Louie on Park Street. Participants have the choice of taking part in the 1K walk or the 5K walk/run. And this year, for those of you that keep track of your time, the Santa Speedo Dash has upgraded to improved timing chip technology, so you’re all set there. Walkers and runners are encouraged to show up dressed in their speedo-best for the occasion.
“Ho-Ho-Ho-Hold on a minute. You mean people actually wear speedos for this thing?”
Yes, they do! Please…show up as the jolly old elf himself or as one of his helpers in speedo fashion. (They really know how to have a good time at the North Pole!) And if a speedo just isn’t your style…no worries. It’s not required. It’s all in good fun. The event winds through the Arena District and finishes back at Bar Louie…the pre- and post-party host for this year’s Santa Speedo Dash!
And again…it’s for a good cause. Advance registration is $35 for walkers or $40 for chip-timed runners / walkers. And all participants get a FREE event shirt.
Proceeds from the event will go to the Central Ohio Diabetes Association to help people right in our area. Funds will be used to help children with diabetes (regardless of income situation) attend camps where they’ll have a good time AND learn how to live better lives with the disease.
So grab your friends, family, co-workers…anyone you know that would be up for a wild and jolly time for a good cause…and get signed up today! Registration closes this Friday at 5pm!
