Kasich takes aim at frontrunners

Screen Shot 2015-10-27 at 4.39.52 PMOne day before the 2016 Republican presidential candidates meet for another debate (this time in Boulder), Ohio Governor John Kasich is signaling that his gloves are coming off and he’s ready to fight.

It wasn’t so long ago that Kasich was polling in the top 3 in New Hampshire…one of the primary season’s earliest contests. And nationally, he was earning notice on the campaign trail. But in recent weeks, his numbers have started to fade and other candidates are passing him by.

At a rally Tuesday in Westerville, the governor seemed to say that he’s finished simply being the ‘nice guy’ in the race.

He offered this criticism of Donald Trump:

We got one guy who says we’re gonna pick them up [illegal immigrants] and we’re gonna take them to the border and scream at them to get out of our country? That’s just crazy.

On Dr. Ben Carson’s flat-tax proposal…a plan that Kasich says would inflate the deficit:

Why don’t we have no taxes? Just get rid of them all, and then a chicken in every pot on top of it.

Kasich takes the stage tomorrow night with Trump, Carson and the bulk of the rest of the field. The debate is set to air on CNBC beginning at 8pm ET.  (jj)
