Demolition work began inside the old Port Columbus terminal last week with renovations planned to follow. Word has been that an unnamed tenant had already been lined up to move in once the work is complete next year. And now, we know who.
Heartland Bank has signed up to be the building’s new resident with plans to move their headquarters from their offices in Gahanna into the larger space at Port Columbus. Heartland’s CEO says that the deal isn’t quite finalized just yet, that they are awaiting approval on tax credits that would come with the facility. (The old terminal is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.) Still, all signs look good for the bank’s move. (jj)
