Choir director sings ‘guilty’ plea on sex charges

Former St. Francis DeSales High School choir director Zachary Ruppel entered  guilty pleas on Thursday to a host of charges. Among the counts involved were compelling prostitution, disseminating matter harmful to juveniles, importuning and two counts of pandering obscenity involving minors. The charges were related to three of Ruppel’s students and included allegations that the director traded higher grades (or other favors) in exchange for sexually graphic photos. Ruppel faces up to eight years in prison.  (jj)
