Clintonville Flag Lady ends sale of Confederate flag

That’s the message on the front of the Flag Lady’s website. ALL CAPS.
As recently as Tuesday morning, with Southern state leaders moving towards the side of ditching their Confederate flags, and retailers ending sales of products that display the image, Clintonville’s Flag Lady Flag Store continued to sell the item. For years, the store has sold the flags as historical items with a small number purchased each year by young students and Civil War re-enactors. By Tuesday evening, the day’s orders for Confederate flags totaled more than 80. It was clear to store VP Lori Leavitt that these flags were not going to children.
Immediately, the store decided to stop selling the flag. Lori says their store isn’t about politics. She says that they sell flags…but not this one. (jj)
