Commission gives approval on downtown Hilton project
The Downtown Commission has given its approval to a Hilton Home 2 Suites property to be developed on East Main Street downtown. The extended-stay accommodations will primarily cater to those with loved ones in nearby Grant Medical Center and Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
Adam Rudolph of North Star Realty tells me that a few tweaks will be made to the designs to comply with the commission’s requests.
Project construction should begin in the first half of 2016. (jj)
Previous: Hilton extended-stay hotel coming to downtown 8/25/2015
Developers on Tuesday presented plans for a new Home 2 Suites Hilton extended-stay property to be developed on East Main Street. The property (just a few doors down from your friendly 614Now offices) is currently a Kleen-A-Kar car wash.
The 5-story building would include 105 rooms with approximately 12,000-square-feet of first floor space dedicated to retail / restaurant tenants.
Plans were presented to the Downtown Commission with some members balking at, what they perceived as, the generic look of the designs. Developers are headed back to the drawing board. Construction is expected to begin by spring.
Also in the works is a new apartment building at the corner of Town and 5th Streets. This 5-story building would include retail space at its base as well. Adjustments are being made to these designs as well. Construction on this project should be underway in 4 to 6 months. (jj)
