Crime Beat: Statehouse lawn crash + Campus house robbed
The Statehouse lawn was a crash-site this morning. Around 2:15AM, a driver (who was speeding) ran a red light at Third and Broad St. and hit another car. The driver’s car than jumped the curb and landed on the Ohio Statehouse lawn. The vehicle’s airbags went off, but no one was injured. Police are investigating the crash.
This morning, OSU students were taken aback when thieves broke into their campus-area home – while they were inside. Around 2:30AM, a group of thieves broke into their home on E. 11th Ave., near Summit St. They stole about $4,000 worth of laptops and gaming equipment. Police followed their trail and arrested one of the thieves. A duffel bag was recovered that police connected to the robbery (it had tools used for break-ins, plus items from the house). Police are continuing to search for the (up to three) other suspects.
