Crowdfunding Spotlight: Rambling House Soda

ohio_john_(1)Each week, we give a bit of space and focus to a local would-be entrepreneur or an already-existing Central Ohio businessperson seeking support . Generally, this is someone who has ideas and goals for a product or service, but needs a bit of a boost. These folks turn to crowdfunding and we help to get the word out.

This week we feature Rambling House Soda. Located at 310 East Hudson Street, Rambling House has been serving up bottles and kegs of all-natural soda since 2013. They also serve as a performance space for primarily traditional, roots and bluegrass music. Earlier this year, owner John Lynch opened a small kitchen in the establishment to satisfy customer hunger. (The kitchen is operated by Paddy Wagon.)

John says that keg sales of his popular sodas are growing, but with his current equipment, the quantity that he is able to produce is limited. There is potential for this local entrepreneur to see his business grow, but he needs a boost.

John is looking for a $5000 loan through the crowdfunding site Kiva so that he can purchase new production and packaging equipment.

For those unfamiliar, Kiva is a site through which community members have the ability to come together and extend interest free loans to budding businesses. The money is generally repaid by the borrower over time. Right now, there is a matching offer in place, meaning that John’s and Rambling House’s loan funders will have their pledges matched dollar for dollar up to a certain amount.

Check out Rambling House Soda’s page on Kiva to get more details and find out what supporters of John have to say about his business.  (jj)
