The Dispatch Media Group has named its new newspaper editor. Former Columbus Dispatch editor Ben Marrison left the company in June after a 15-year run atop the daily publication. The moved followed the purchase of the media group by New York-based New Media. At the time, managing news editor Alan Miller was named interim-Editor of the paper. Miller has now been locked into the position officially.

“In our brief association I have come to admire Alan and believe he is well prepared for the responsibility he will assume.  He is a talented journalist with a deep understanding of and affection for central Ohio. He is an effective leader who has clearly won the support and esteem of his colleagues in the newsroom.  His character and professionalism give me confidence that, under his guidance, this newspaper will continue to provide the responsible, high-impact journalism the community has come to expect from the Dispatch.”

– Jim Hopson, Columbus Dispatch interim publisher

Miller has been with the paper since 1984, beginning as a beat reporter at the publication’s Newark bureau.

“I’m honored to work with such an amazingly talented team of journalists – the best in Ohio, as evidenced by their good work and the many awards they win each year.”

– Alan Miller, ColumbusDispatch editor
