First year for Ronald McDonald House Red Shoe Run

2015-red-shoe-run-5k-logo-trans-300x300Always a city coming up with ways to combine fun and good benefit, Columbus’ inaugural Red Shoe Run is scheduled for Saturday, August 1st. The 5k and 1 mile fun run is a charity event to benefit the Ronald McDonald House. The run steps off at 10am with a course through the scenic Scioto Audobon Metro Park. Entry for either the 5k or the 1 mile is $30 through July 16th, $40 thereafter. Lower entry fees are available for children 12 and under. Event chair Ben Peters tells us that events like the Red Shoe Run really make a difference for organizations such as Ronald McDonald House:

These events are extremely important to the House. Mainly because they raises awareness. The Red Shoe Society prides itself on our awesome volunteers. These volunteers help run events that raise money for families that need a warm room to stay while their child is receiving lifesaving care from Nationwide Hospital. For every dollar earned or every new volunteer, we better the experience for the next family coming into the house during a very stressful time.

More than 150 participants are expect for this year’s event.  (jj)
