Former 10TV anchor joins ABC-6

Former 10TV news anchor Kurt Ludlow is coming back to television. The newsman was let go by the CBS affiliate in May of 2014 after 23 years with the station. Since then, Kurt has received other offers of work here in Columbus, but he and his lawyers say that 10TV blocked him from accepting those opportunities. The channel said that Ludlow’s contract had a non-compete clause that prevented him from working at another station in the broadcast market for a period of time. Ludlow’s attorneys disagreed with that interpretation and believe that, if the newsman received an offer from another local outlet, he needed only to give 10TV the opportunity to match the offer. The back-and-forth has resulted in his absence from television for 14 months. Apparently, his exile is over.

On Thursday, ABC-6 announced that Ludlow is joining their newsroom and next week will begin anchoring the 5:30pm newscast alongside Yolanda Harris. He will also take on the role of advocacy investigator. The station says that this will have him making regular appearances on the 11pm news each night, looking at issues with impact on the community.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to once again inform and stand up for the people of Central Ohio. I look forward to building upon the tremendous success that ABC 6 News has generated, and I am anxious to get back to doing what I truly love.”

Kurt’s first night back on Columbus TV screens will be Tuesday, July 21st.  (jj)
