FYI: there are NO tigers on the loose

The Athens County Sheriff’s office is having to clear up a pretty big rumor. According to Sheriff Rodney Smith, the office started getting several calls today from people concerned that a truck transporting animals to the Columbus Zoo had crashed, and that a tiger was on the loose. Sheriff Smith clarified that situation by saying,

“I would like to make the public aware that this information is false, it is a rumor that has been spread throughout Athens County. Please be assured there are no wildlife animals that were being transported to the Columbus Zoo and are on the loose from a vehicle crash here in Athens County.”

Guess someone was ‘lion’-ing about those wild animals. (deb)
