German Village brick repair underway: Temporary closures

23 Columbus streets are slated for brick repair this year and the work in many areas has already been completed. Work in German Village is currently underway. This week, that means closures for Mohawk Street. Mohawk is closed between East Livingston and Jackson Street beginning today and running through July 29th. That will be followed by:

  • Mohawk closure between Jackson Street and Beck Street from July 30th through August 7th
  • Mohawk closure between Willow Street and East Sycamore Street from August 10th through August 24th
  • One lane of Mohawk Street closed between East Sycamore Street and East Whittier Street from August 25th through September 7th. There will be two-way traffic in this lane controlled by flaggers.

Following the work on Mohawk, other repairs will begin. This should not require closures, but here’s a look at the schedule just the same.

  • East Maynard Street between Cleveland Avenue and Billiter Boulevard:  September 1st through September 4th
  • Beech Street between East Kossuth Street and East Columbus Street:  September 7th through September 18th
  • East Frankfort Street between South High Street and Mohawk Street:  September 21st through September 25th
  • East Kossuth Street between South 5th Street and South 6th Street:    September 28th through October 9th
  • East Sycamore Street between Mohawk Street and Jaeger Street:  October 12th through October 20th
  • West 3rd Avenue between Neil Avenue and Harrison Avenue:  October 21st through November 2nd

All dates are listed as “weather permitting.” But with all of the beautiful, gorgeous, sunny days that we’ve had this summer…what could go wrong?  (jj)
