Impressive numbers for COTA
The wheels on the bus go round and round and, apparently, a lot of people were riding that bus last year. COTA reports that, in 2014, they had their highest number of passengers in 28 years. In all, the bus service tallied 19.3 million rides provided in 2014. That’s an increase of three percent over the previous year. These are the largest figures reported by COTA since 1986 when a record 24 million trips were reported. (A worker strike followed and led to a serious decrease in ridership.) COTA attributes the impressive 2014 numbers to new and expanded service in addition to increased travels on already existing lines. (jj)
