New organic grocery delivery service coming soon to your doorstep

produceDoor to Door Organics, an organic grocery home delivery service, will soon begin knocking on doors of customers in Columbus.

The Colorado-based company launched in 1997 and services 60 U.S. cities, delivering fresh, high-quality, organic, natural and local food to the doors of residential and business clients. This week, the company announced expansion into two new markets…Des Moines and Columbus. The Columbus area will be serviced by Door to Door’s Cleveland operation with deliveries available locally on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If the company proves successful locally, a Cbus base will likely be put in place.

So, how does it work? Customers select a box size…typically varying from small to large family. They also choose what type of box they want: fruits, vegetables or mixed produce. Customers receive advance notice of what will be in their delivery and they can make substitutions if they like. Boxes range from $25.99 to $54.99 with no added delivery charge.

This isn’t the first company to offer such a service in the area. Green Bean Delivery has been operating here for a few years, so there’s clearly a market for the concept.

Door to Door already has a number of contacts established with local growers, but is working to strengthen and expand that list. In the meantime, with most farmers beyond the growing season, the company will utilize product from other serviced markets to complete Columbus orders.

Door to Door launches Columbus service the week of September 28th.  (jj)
