The catcalls came in for Columbus Police officers Tuesday night, but it may not be what you expect.

Passing motorists reported a stranded feline in the middle of 315 near Henderson Road. The cat’s well-being aside, officers were concerned that kitty could dart into traffic and cause an accident. Five officers sprung into action to handle the situation. Roadway traffic was secured while Officer Hauenstein safely recovered the cat. According to reports, the delay to traffic was minimal and motorists applauded the actions of the officers.

The cat was taken to the OSU Veterinary Hospital. Doctors say that it appears to be about six months old and had suffered two broken legs and a possible broken jaw…possibly from being struck before becoming stranded in the median. It was wearing a green collar at the time of the rescue but no owner has been identified.

High-five, CPD! Nice save.  (jj)
