Stonewall Columbus on the Caitlyn Jenner reveal
On Monday, the world met Caitlyn Jenner. The new cover of Vanity Fair shows us the former Bruce Jenner as a woman for the first time. As the article was released, she launched a new Twitter account with a picture of the magazine cover and this message:
I’m so happy after such a long struggle to be living my true self. Welcome to the world Caitlyn. Can’t wait for you to get to know her/me.
– Caitlyn Jenner via Twitter
Immediately she began racking up social media supporters and in roughly 4 hours, Jenner had passed one million followers…the fastest to ever reach that mark.
Another Jenner world record, and at 65? Who'da thought! Humbled & honored to have reached 1M followers in 4 hrs. Thank you for your support.

At last count, she had more than 2.1 million followers on Twitter.
Locally, Stonewall Columbus offered this:

It was also announced Monday that Jenner, gold medal decathlon winner at the 1976 Olympics, would be the recipient of this year’s Arthur Ashe Courage Award. The honor will be presented in July at the ESPYs. ESPN is describing the event as Caitlyn Jenner’s “first major public appearance.” She is expected to be joined on-stage by her family for the occasion. (jj)
