Uber’s plan to add 3,000 Columbus drivers by end of 2016
The rideshare app service Uber has announced plans to recruit 3,000 additional drivers in Columbus by the end of next year.
Uber currently has approximately 2,500 drivers in Central Ohio but says that demand for the service is high and continues to grow. They say that adding to the number of available drivers will allow them to keep up with demand and improve the service…thereby leading to a continuation of the company’s expanding place in the transportation market. The company plans to work with various organizations and to hold recruitment events to bring in new drivers.
A number of taxi drivers say that Uber’s entry into the Columbus market has caused their business to dry up. The city’s largest taxi service, Yellow Cab, says that regulations are needed to limit the number of Uber drivers. (jj)
