Update: Commission approves new downtown apartment complexes
The Downtown Commission on Tuesday gave the go-ahead to a pair of proposed apartment developments.
The first is 105-unit project from Lifestyle Communities. This building would run along South Front Street in the area between West Main and Cherry.
The other is the Borror-backed plan for a development in the old Red Zone lot at 303 South Front Street. The commission did ask Borror to reconsider a portion of the design, expressing concern over a lack of windows on the project’s northeast corner.
Previous: More units, less parking at complex planned for former Red Zone space 12/15/2015
Developers of a proposed apartment complex on the former Red Zone property (303 South Front Street) have taken another run at their design plans. They’ve now added 13 more units, increasing the total from 76 to 89. To compensate, it appears that they’ve reduced the number of parking spaces from 68 to 35. Planners don’t believe that parking will be an issue with more and more folks taking advantage of public transportation offerings.
The plan could see approval next week.
