Columbus supergroup releases debut single
Whether or not you’re into the Columbus music scene, you’ve probably seen the names Nick D and the Believers, The Floorwalkers and Forest and the Evergreens thrown around.
All three bands have achieved local fame for their respective sounds, and when members of each met up to play music together, something clicked.
The result was Columbus supergroup Doc Robinson, fronted by Nick D’Andrea of Nick D and the Believers and Jon Elliott of The Floorwalkers.
“Jon and I first got together just to write a tune,” D’Andrea said. “We spent a whole day at it and we thought, ‘Wow we really love this. It feels like we’re making a mural with all these different colors with the different things we bring to the table.'”
The band’s first single, “It’s Over” was released Monday and produced by Michael Landolt, who’s previously worked with O.A.R. and Maroon 5.
It’s an upbeat reflection on breakups and growing up, complete with soul-influenced horn lines and a new-school, chromed-out, pop production sheen.
“We wanted this project to be a meld between those two vibes and sounds, but just really fun party music that people can have fun and party, and party, and party,” D’Andrea said.
As for now, Doc Robinson is focused on recording the rest of their debut EP, with their first performance scheduled for the Columbus Food Truck Fest in mid-August, followed by an EP release show at Brothers Drake Meadery.
