On Saturday the Scioto River sent over a dozen dragons downstream to the beat of drums.
The annual dragonboat race had 17 teams of about a dozen rowers, plus a drummer and a pilot, competing on intricately carved boats to see who can cover 500 meters the fastest.
Rowing in unison is essential to maintaining the speed of the boats, making teamwork an important aspect of the craft.
The event was put on by the Columbus Asian Festival, which is happening this weekend on May 28 and 29.
