The idea is simple–a metal ring inscribed with a personalized word tied together by leather or cloth string–but the impact is huge.
Ohio State graduate Chris Pan launched myintent.org two years ago as a “passion project,” never intending it to grow as large as it has. But after some high profile celebrities started wearing them, including Kanye West on the cover of TIME, sales skyrocketed.
In a feature on the Today Show, Pan explains that the handmade bracelets are supposed to be conversation starters, and a way to “spread positive energy.”
