Canal Winchester to Honor WW2 Veteran in Labor Day Parade and Festival

Canal Winchester will be hosting its 96th annual labor day festival, and this year it is honoring World War II veteran and survivor of Pearl Harbor, Milton Mapou.

Mapou will be this year’s parade grand marshall, and will be traveling in December as part of the annual anniversary commemoration of the Pearl Harbor attacks, according Mayor Michael Ebert in an Eagle-Gazette article.

Aside from the parade, this festival is the most Ohio thing you’ve ever heard of. Ohioans that miss their roots or are out of state, this will be the place to be this weekend.

With tons of activities like canal races, car shows, and country, rock and Motown style performances by local and regional artists, this festival will be sure to please even the most hipster Columbusite.

Bring your kids, bring your buddies – activities during the day are family friendly, and at night, music and booze for you and your pals (but not puppy pals, festival coordinators ask that pets be kept at home.)

The festival runs from Saturday through Monday this weekend, and is located at 10 N High Street.
