New Short North Parlor Room to offer casual craft cocktails

Though “casual cocktail bar” might seem like an oxymoron to some, the new Short North Parlor Room hopes to bring a friendly, neighborhood vibe to its retooled space at 1126 N. High St.

The room used to be home to Surly Girl Saloon, but the new interior swaps the western stylings for casual, classy decor with plenty of dark wood, earth tones and retro lighting.

Craft cocktails will be the focus of the new establishment, but a food menu will offer gastropub-style comfort food as well, including pierogies with mushroom sauce and fried onions, fried cheese curds with an amaretto mustard dip, burgers, upscale pizzas and entrees like shrimp and grits.

The official opening is on July 29, but keep your eyes peeled for a possible sneak peek of the new Short North Parlor Room before the end of the month.
