Assault rifle, body armor stolen from CPD vehicle

Multiple items were stolen from an undercover Columbus Police Officer’s unmarked vehicle on Wednesday, July 13 while the officer was eating at the York Steak House on West Broad Street.
The items included an M16 assault rifle, two bulletproof vests and a handgun.
According to reports, the officer was on duty at the time of the thefts.
Suspects arrived in a gold early 2000’s Chevy S10 pickup truck with a black bumper and damage on the passenger front quarter panel.
