As far as glue that binds this country together, few do it better than the artery clogging concoctions that McDonald’s calls ‘hamburgers.’
McDonald’s, much like every other fast food chain, has deemed Columbus and central Ohio a “test market” which means we get to eat the poorly thought out or “not safe for mass consumption” novelty menu items that a human being thought up in a test kitchen.
Well, McDonald’s is playing with fire because they’re launching the Sriracha Big Mac in 122 central Ohio McDonald’s.
“Our customers are absolutely demanding new and exciting things,” Chef Mike Haracz told Bizjournals. “We’re trying to expand what is great about McDonald’s.”
I’ll be the first to say that I’ll demolish a McDouble, and on the rare occasion a 20 pc. Chicken Nugget but — I’m going to upset some people here, the Big Mac is a trash burger.
It’s a soppy tower of mostly bread with two White Castle sized patties, a half-a-head of lettuce, some American cheese and thousand island dressing. It is the pinnacle of poorly designed burgers. Which is why it is so shocking they’re attempting to mix the one thing about this monstrosity that’s worth something, their sauce, with a squirt of sriracha.
I’ve said my piece.
Chef Mike Haraczwill be at the McDonald’s across from OSU at 1972 N. High St., hosting a tasting event from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
