Columbus to House First National Veterans Memorial & Museum

Columbus will be home to the nation’s first National Veteran’s Memorial & Museum, according to Biz Journal.

The museum and memorial previously honored just 900,000 thousand Ohioans who served the U.S., but now it will stand as an umbrella dedication to those 22 million Americans who served our country, and the millions more that died for it.

U.S. Rep. Steve Stivers, R-Upper Arlington co-sponsored the National Veterans Memorial and Museum Act last week, according to Biz Journal, and said in the article that one of the major selling points for the idea was that our great city of Columbus is just eight hours away from half of the U.S. population.

The museum and memorial will be sitting on seven acres just near the Scioto River with a view of the downtown skyline and will feature an amphitheater, and a park north of the building.

Stivers said to Biz Journal that he wants the bill will pass before the grand opening and is hopeful since the project is already underway.
