Hillary Clinton, Tim Kaine to speak in Columbus
Presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and her running mate Tim Kaine, a United States Senator and lawyer from Virginia, will be making a campaign stop in Columbus following this week’s Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.
The focus of Clinton’s speech will be the economy Saturday evening, though additional details about the venue or the precise time have not been released.
The Democratic National Convention is currently under increased scrutiny after a high-profile email leak revealed collusion with national media outlets and evidence that the Clinton camp used underhanded tactics to defeat Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders in the primary election.
The leak resulted in the resignation of party chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who has been replaced by political strategist Donna Brazile.
Some analysts say divisions still exist in the DNC between Clinton’s and Sanders’ delegates, but the focus of the convention will likely be a message of unity against Republican nominee Donald Trump, who was officially given the Republican nomination last week in Cleveland.
