Kasich, Sanders garner first votes in New Hampshire primary
Ohio Governor John Kasich and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders were the first presidential candidates to win over voters in the New Hampshire primary.
In the tiny community of Dixville, NH (population: 9), Kasich beat out Donald Trump 3-2 among Republicans, while Sanders won all the Democratic votes.
Up until this point Kasich has focused his campaign largely on winning over New Hampshire voters, and he has received numerous high-profile endorsements from newspapers like the New York Times and the Boston Globe for his pragmatic approach to the Republican primary.
In the polls, Kasich is positioned in a close race with New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, both of whom trailed behind Donald Trump.
Sanders, meanwhile, has enjoyed a 30-point lead over Hillary Clinton in polls leading up to the primary.
Check back for updates as the results pour in later tonight.
