Ken Blackwell to Lead Trump’s Domestic Transition Team

Ken Blackwell, an Ohio Republican that has been involved in nearly all stages of government has been tapped to lead Trump’s domestic transition team, according to The Dispatch.

Blackwell, a former Cincinnati mayor, former state treasurer, honorary campaign co-chair of George W. Bush, and the first black nominee for Ohio governor is both an outspoken opponent of Barack Obama’s presidency and party anomalee. He was also the former undersecretary at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and a U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Human Rights Commission.

He has, similar to Donald Trump, a history of noncompliance with his own party, including demanding the resignation of Ohio House Representatives Speaker Larry Householder after he became involved in fund-raising scandals. He has spoken out against Taft and the moderate wing of the Ohio Republican Party for tax increases in disregard to budgets.

He is also largely prominent for adding his support to an amendment that prohibited same-sex marriage in the state of Ohio. He is a senior fellow for Human Rights and Constitutional Governance for the Family Research Council which has denounced same-sex marriage, “FRC does not consider homosexuality, bi-sexuality, and transgenderism as acceptable alternative lifestyles or sexual “preferences”; they are unhealthy and destructive to individual persons, families, and society.”

In his bid for Ohio Governor, he lost to Ted Strickland, netting 37% of the vote.
