Ohio voter’s guide: How to vote in the Ohio Primaries

614now Staff

With the 2016 presidential election drawing nearer, more and more Ohioans are becoming politically engaged. But, if you intend to vote in the primaries there are one or two hurdles you need to jump through first.

But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.

The rules are simple: the Ohio Primary election, which takes place on March 15, is held to determine who will be running for president in the Democratic and Republican parties.

To vote in either the Democratic or Republican primary, simply show up to your party’s polling location and declare your party affiliation. You can even change your party affiliation the day of the election.

Since Ohio has closed primaries, you can only vote in the primary election of your party affiliation.

To register, fill out a voter registration form and mail it to your county board of elections. All county boards of elections will accept voter registration forms postmarked by February 16.

Snail mail and registration forms are tedious, but the chance to have your voice be heard makes the pain 100% worth it.
