‘Zombie nativity’ ruling due in March, homeowner faces $13,000 in fines

Cincinnati resident Jasen Dixon faces over $13,000 in fines for a nativity scene he constructed in his front yard featuring monstrous creatures in place of biblical figures.

Judge Brad Greenberg said that he would make a decision on the charges on March 15.

Whether or not the undead twist on the classic Bible story is offensive or good clean fun, Dixon’s attorney, Rob Linneman, said that the fines infringe on his constitutional rights to free speech.

“We think Mr. Dixon has the right to use his yard to express himself,” Linneman said. “It’s his first amendment right.”

In the wake of the charges, protesters dressed as zombies demonstrated outside of the Hamilton County Courthouse Tuesday morning.

“This is America,” said one blood-splattered protester, who spent three days in jail for demonstrating in support of Dixon last month.
