Primary roundup: Kasich’s last stand

Primary roundup: Kasich’s last stand

Opinion

It’s been a good run for Ohio Governor John Kasich, but sadly, all things must come to an end.

From his first debate performance to his famously unscripted “women left their kitchens to vote for me” comment to his campaign promise to reunite British rock band Pink Floyd, it’s been a helluva ride.

As of now, many polls are projecting that Kasich will win his home state–a respectable fate for the governor, and certainly a better fate than Florida Senator Marco Rubio, who is expected to lose his home state of Florida.

Kasich previously said he would “call it over” if he doesn’t win Ohio, but given his meager delegate count, the Ohio Governor stands little chance of winning the presidential nomination even if he does win Ohio.

Currently sitting in fourth place out of four Republican candidates, Kasich likely won’t even get a bump to third even if he wins Ohio’s 66 delegates.

His best chance for a nomination is to deny frontrunner Donald Trump the 1,237 delegates required for the nomination, resulting in a brokered GOP Convention.

Sounds like a Plan D to me.

Whether he’ll take a cue from The Alamo and stick it out remains to be seen. We’ll find out tonight if his home field advantage pays off.
