Campus armed robberies prompt crime alert

A string of early morning armed robberies Sunday prompted a crime alert by University Police.

According to the crime alert, three female students were approached by two men at the intersection of West 8th Avenue and Neil Avenue, where one man flashed a handgun and took their money before running away.

Less than 20 minutes later, another robbery was reported at the corner of Mt. Pleasant and East 2nd Avenue, where one man pointed a gun at a female student, threatening to shoot her before taking her wallet and cell phone.

The suspects are described as two 5’10” black men in their early 20s with dark sweatshirt hoods pulled tight over their faces.
