UPDATED: The ‘Buckeye Bandit’ Was Homecoming King & Pre-Med Student

[UPDATE 11-3-16]

According to various media reports, the man known as the Buckeye Bandit was the homecoming king at Westerville North High School. He has also never attended Ohio State.

He instead went to University of Findlay for pre-medicine where he played football.

He is currently looking at a possible 25+ year sentence.

In his confrontation with Police after his $50k bank robbery, he was shot after turning on the Police with a gun. The gun later turned out to be a B.B. Gun.

The Buckeye Bandit, responsible for nearly 30 bank robberies over the last three years — has been caught. Columbus is now short one absurdly named bank robber.

Since starting a crimewave of robbery and theft, he has stolen an undisclosed amount of money and all the authorities are letting the public know is that he most recently stole $53k from Keybank on the Northwest Side on Oct. 21. This is the only robbery he has officially been charged in after he was released from Ohio Health Grant into Police Custody.

Ikechi W. Emeaghara, 27, wore an OSU shirt and hat during his robberies earning him the name, “The Buckeye Bandit” — he usually carried a black handgun which he used to intimidate and “terrorize” cash from the tellers, according to FBI agent Tom Gill to The Dispatch.

So how was this nefarious criminal caught? By way of Batman-esque gadgetry! A GPS tracking device was secretly slipped into a bag of cash he was given by one of the tellers. As he was fleeing he became stuck in traffic, later he was pulled over in a parking lot at 4600 block of Lakehurst Court where he was shot after pointing a gun at the officers. After being shot he was then taken to Grant Medical Center and then released on November 1, 2016.

Police found his getup in the car, along with the stolen cash.

This individual’s crimespree is officially over.
